Nairn is known around the world for its two championship golf courses, both set close to the shores of the Moray Firth. The older of the town’s two clubs - The Nairn Golf Club was founded in 1887 and has hosted a large number of prestigious tournaments including the Walker Cup and is scheduled to host the British Amateur Stoke Play in 2021. In addition to this Castle Stuart Golf Links is only a 10 minute drive away and has been home to the Scottish Open many times and is definitely worth a visit!
Nairn is the perfect base for exploring the Scottish Highlands with a close proximity to Culloden Battlefield, Fort George, Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, Inverness, Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness. With strong transportation links via Bus, Train and 15 minutes from Inverness Airport Nairn is well situated for hosting your trip to the Highlands. There are other activities available as well such as a trip to our beautiful Beach, fishing on the River Nairn or Findhorn and bird watching at nearby Culbin Forest.
The North Coast 500 brings together a route of more than 500 miles of stunning coastal scenery – 516 miles, to be exact. Starting and Finishing at Inverness Castle just 15 miles from Nairn the NC500 is one of the world’s best road adventures, and is easily one of the most beautiful. While the North Coast 500 is an experience in itself, you’ll also find plenty of adventures to be had along the way.
Benromach is a Speyside distillery founded by Duncan McCallum and F.W. Brickman in 1898 and currently owned and run by Gordon and Macphail of Elgin. It is situated just 10 minutes from Nairn.
Highland Wildlife Park is now home to over 200 amazing animals including native Scottish species as well as rare and endangered animals from the world’s mountains and tundra regions including Polar Bears. Just 7 miles south of Aviemore its approximately an hours drive from Nairn but worth the trip if you have time to spare!
